A piece of ER Series

The art of take what you 'need'

Well, no. This is not about oasis' song.
It's just that i think it's important to learn the art of 'take what you need'. Need. Not what you wanted, not what you don't want and especially not what you don't need.

You might want something but you don't actually need it. Or you might need it but not really want it.
So need is basically what you really need, whether you like it or not. And needs means what best for you. Not for any other people, not for image-sake, not for other reason. You. You're the reason. Yeah no, we're not talking about hoobastank's song.

So why would i call it an art? Because it is. No logical mathematical formula that can be used to summarize what you need and how you'd take it.

For example. You are a working and nursing mother. You went home feeling okay after a productive day at work, and you still have housework to do before picking up your 1 yo.
And then your neighbours saw you and just casually said 'hey, just coming home after work? Well you still have time to rest before picking up your child.'
When the truth is you actually don't have time to rest since you got list of houseworks to do.
The only time you can get some rest is when your child asleep. But what do your neighbours know?
Nothing. They don't know anything about your daily life. What they see and their perspective of the world clouded their judgement and come to the conclusion that you have time to rest.
And then those words might make you a lil bit angry, or maybe you wanted to explain to them the truth, or at least telling them that they're wrong. Either way, those words can ruin your previously okay mood.
Well why bother? You don't need to take that one.
What you need to take is your neighbours just trying to have a lil chit chat before you went to your house. It's a form of maintaining a good neighbours relation. And then you can just smile-it-away.

Other case, you might not perform well in your supervisor's eyes. While every time you look in the mirror you always doing a great job. And then your supervisors giving you advice with a lil bit criticism spice in it. So. Take what you need. If the advice and the critic will give you another positive result or it goes to a new greater you, why won't you tried it? Instead of going defensive, make it as another fuel to lit the fiery you. That is what you need.

Other time you're just surfing instagram and saw japan's scenery and it makes you drooling inside. But traveling to japan is on the next page of your other priority-list-book. Well you still have a book full of primary priority list. Now stop drooling. It doesn't mean to let go of your dream, it just that you still have other things to do. Don't compare what you have, what you don't have, what you might have or what you might not have to other people's. You don't know anything about other people. You don't know their struggles, you don't know what they have to give to take. So take what you need.
MaasyaAllah, how great Allah with all the things Allah's created. Bismillah, hopefully Allah will grant any of your wishes, and even greater. Aamiin.
And then take a look around you. Yep. You're blessed already. Not traveling-japan blessed, but alive-blessed. Family-blessed. And a lot of things-blessed.

The main point of the art is knowing what you need and how you'd take it. A lil bit tricky though. You can't let emotions driving you.
But once you master the art, i guess it'll be good. Awesome. Well, i'm still on my learning too though. Wish me luck.
