Dulu waktu kecil mau beli sepatu, orangtua saya bilangnya 'beli sepatu kets'
Dan sampai sekarang kalau nyebut sepatu bertali, saya nyebutnya sepatu kets.

Dulu waktu kecil orangtua saya punya tempat penyimpanan air panas. Bilangnya 'air panas di termos'.
Sekarang kalau saya mau nyebut botol penyimpanan air panas, nyebutnya termos.

Dan saya baru tau sekarang.
Sepatu kets itu diambil dari merek sepatu keds, berdiri tahun 1916, dari amerika.
Termos itu maksudnya merek vacuum flask thermos, berdiri tahun 1907, dari amerika.

Hm. Oke.

Time will tell

Sympathy is a lie. Yes it is.

You wouldn't have guessed how it feels to be your parents.

You couldn't have imagine the struggle of your parents.

Until you become one yourself.

Even when others said, 'your mother carried you for nine months, change your diapers, sing you lullaby every night', it'll be just words.

Even when others said, 'your father worked day and night to keep food in your plate, to keep you sheltered from rain and to give you education you didn't know you need.' Yes, it'll be just words.

Until you become one yourself.

You wouldn't have guessed their feelings of insecurity and worried when you fell sick, when you suddenly cried in the middle of the night, or if you found hardships along your growing up phase.

You wouldn't have guessed their feelings when they sent you on your first trip to school alone, praying their heart out that you'll be safe, and even after you reach college they still couldn't sleep if you're not home yet.

You wouldn't have guessed, until you become one yourself.

And then when time finally tells you how it feels,

Suddenly you missed the feeling of safe in their grip, the warmth of their hug, the pleasure in their smile, and the confidence in their presence.

But you couldn't turn back time.

And time tells you, it's your turn.

It's your turn to worried 24/7 but still end up doing it. Things called parenting.

When your eyes met with your child's eyes and know that this little gift from Allah is so precious beyond words and you have to take a very good care of it.

Then you'll understand. It's your turn.
